Chrystia Freeland is a name that is synonymous with success, determination, and breaking barriers. As one of the most influential politicians and journalists in Canada, she has paved the way for women in traditionally male-dominated fields. Born in Peace River, Alberta in 1968, Freeland’s upbringing was heavily influenced by her Ukrainian heritage. After completing her studies at Harvard University, Freeland embarked on a successful career as a journalist, working for publications such as The Financial Times, The Globe and Mail, and Reuters. Her expertise ultimately led her to become the Managing Director and Editor of Consumer News at Thomson Reuters, solidifying her position as one of the most respected journalists in the industry.
